Department of Justice

The Department of Justice (DOJ) is the primary legal agency of the government. As such, it acts as the government’s prosecutorial body, administering the criminal justice system, investigating crimes, prosecuting offenders, and overseeing the prison system.

Through its attached offices and agencies, the DOJ also acts as legal adviser and representative of the government in litigation and court proceedings, implements laws on admission and stay of aliens in the Philippines, and provides free legal services to indigent and other eligible citizens.

Duties include:

  • Administration of the criminal justice system.
  • Legal advice to the government.
  • Immigration regulation.
  • International cooperation.

The project will seek validation of the strategy proposed by the Ministry of Justice during an initial identification visit. Specific recommendations for its betterment will be addressed and the participation of representatives of the Ministry in the project activities and its follow-up will be proposed.
